Italy in ruins

Holiday in Italy. Somehow I thought I'd damaged the camera.
Whatever the truth, I did manage to damage the film, as I was anxious to get it out before any "more damage" (?) was done.
The result was the horribly ruined photo on the left.
After a few hours with the trusty Mac, it seemed that the photo still contained enough information to salvage most of it.
Of course the black smudge of my thumb is there to stay...
